SkyStop is a simulated flight disruption hedging platform that lets travelers protect themselves against flight delays and cancellations. You place a hedge on your flight before you travel — if your flight is disrupted, you get paid automatically. No claims, no forms, no waiting.

Traditional travel insurance requires you to file a claim, submit documentation, and wait weeks for a decision that may be denied. SkyStop works differently:

• Automatic payouts — if your flight qualifies, you get paid. No claim required.
• Instant settlement — payouts are reflected in your wallet the following day.
• Transparent odds — you see exactly what you'll receive before you commit.
• You choose your tier — hedge against a 15-minute delay, a cancellation, or anything in between.

The current version of SkyStop is a paper trading demo — all hedges and payouts are simulated with no real money involved. It's fully functional with real flight data and real odds, giving you a true feel for how the platform works. We're using this phase to refine the experience before launching the real-money version.

It's simple:

1. Search for your flight by route and date.
2. Select your flight from the results.
3. Choose a protection tier (e.g. 15 mins late, 30 mins late, cancelled).
4. Enter your stake amount.
5. Review your potential payout and confirm.

Your hedge is active immediately and will be monitored automatically on the day of your flight.

SkyStop offers five protection tiers:

• >= 15 Minutes Late — pays out if your flight arrives 15 or more minutes after its scheduled arrival time.
• >= 30 Minutes Late — pays out at 30+ minutes late.
• >= 60 Minutes Late — pays out at 60+ minutes late.
• >= 120 Minutes Late — pays out at 120+ minutes late.
• Cancelled — pays out if your flight is cancelled entirely.

Tiers are cascading — a cancellation qualifies for all delay tiers as well.

SkyStop uses a proprietary odds engine that combines multiple data sources to calculate the probability of a disruption for your specific flight:

• Historical flight data — years of actual delay and cancellation records for your route, departure airport, and arrival airport.
• Seasonal patterns — weekly and monthly disruption trends.
• Weather forecasts — real-time weather data for both departure and arrival airports, adjusted for how far in advance you're hedging.

The result is a fair, data-driven payout multiplier specific to your flight.

Weather is a major driver of flight disruptions, so SkyStop factors live forecast data into every hedge. Severe conditions — snow, heavy rain, thunderstorms, fog — increase the probability of disruption and reduce your payout multiplier accordingly (meaning the odds are more favorable to you as a traveler). Clear weather days result in slightly higher multipliers for the house. The weather adjustment is also scaled by how far in advance you're hedging — a forecast 6 days out carries less weight than one from the day before your flight.

SkyStop uses live flight status data from a third-party aviation data provider to track actual departure and arrival times. Settlement is based on the official recorded delay or cancellation status for your flight.

Currently SkyStop supports primary commercial flights at a selection of major US airports, with EU airports coming soon. When you search for your flight, you'll see all supported primary flights along with any partner or codeshare flights operating on the same route. Only primary flights can be hedged directly.

Yes — you can hedge multiple tiers on the same flight. For example, you might place a larger stake on the 15-minute tier and a smaller stake on the cancelled tier, giving you layered protection at different payout levels.

Maximum stake limits vary by flight, tier, and platform liquidity conditions. The maximum allowable stake is displayed on the stake entry screen before you confirm your hedge.

Hedges are final once confirmed and cannot be cancelled or modified. Make sure to review your tier, stake, and payout carefully on the confirmation screen before submitting.

Hedges are tied to the specific flight you selected. If your airline reassigns you to a different flight number and you wish to change your hedge to your new flight, please contact support — we will review the circumstances and transfer at our discretion.

Your hedges are visible under My Bets, organized into three tabs: Started (upcoming flights), Active (flights currently in progress), and Resolved (completed hedges with outcomes). Pending payouts are shown in your wallet.

The current version of Skystop is a paper trading demo — all stakes and payouts are simulated. No real money is deposited, wagered, or paid out. The demo uses real flight data and real odds so the experience accurately reflects how the live platform will work. Real-money functionality will be introduced in a future licensed launch.
